Biography

RAM was forged in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1999 – with a single, unwavering purpose: heavy metal in its purest and most uncompromising form. Over more than a quarter century, the band has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most dedicated and ferocious heavy metal acts, a band that has never followed trends, never softened its approach, and never strayed from the black path.
Founded by vocalist Oscar Carlquist and guitarist Harry Granroth, RAM emerged from the same Gothenburg scene that produced melodic death metal and metalcore, but chose a radically different direction. Where their contemporaries looked forward, RAM looked back to the molten core of the genre: Judas Priest, early Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, and the raw power of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The result was not nostalgia but renewal, classic heavy metal played with a conviction and intensity that made it sound vital and dangerous again.
