Biography

The name RUTHLESS in itself means “without mercy.” Since the early 1980’s, lead by vocalist Sammy DeJohn, the band has stayed true to its style of metal, from the classic first EP “Metal Without Mercy” (1984) and the debut cult album “Discipline Of Steel” (1986), to the current albums “They Rise” (2015)” and “Evil Within” (2019), they’ve never wavered on the power of bands like JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT and BLACK SABBATH, always staying true to their roots.

The current album “The Fallen” was released in January 2024 on their new label Fireflash Records (HOLY MOSES, MEZZROW, etc.). With songs like “No Mercy,” “Betrayal,” and “Soldiers of Steel,” the band perfectly bridges the gap between their own past and the present.

“This album will give you everything that makes Ruthless what it is. The songs are very powerful and represent a return to the band’s early days,” stated Sammy De John.

RUTLESS has created an album full of power and passion, combined with the classic 80s metal sound, ready to become a future classic and a must-have for anyone who loves traditional heavy metal like METAL CHURCH, HELSTAR, EXCITER, LIEGE LORD, and others. “The Fallen” was produced by Bart Gabriel (CIRITH UNGOL, RIOT CITY, HEXX, among others) and rounded off with striking artwork by Mario Lopez (EVIL INVADERS, CRYSTAL VIPER, TOXIK) and photos by Alex Solca (TESTAMENT, DIO, DOKKEN).

At the end of 2024, RUTHLESS finally toured Europe as support for their fellow believers JAG PANZER, cementing their reputation as a magnificent live band.

The band is currently in the studio with producer Ron Sandoval (KERRY KING, among others), putting the finishing touches on their new album “Curse Of The Beast,” which will be released in July 2027. “We can’t wait for you all to hear it. We have a couple of surprises on this one and it’s going to destroy,” reveals vocalist Sammy. Immediately afterwards, the band will play shows in Europe, including “Headbangers Open Air.”

Seit den frühen 1980er Jahren, angeführt von Sänger Sammy DeJohn, ist die Band ihrem ureigenen Stil treu geblieben, von der legendären ersten EP “Metal Without Mercy” (1984) und dem Debüt-Kultalbum “Discipline Of Steel” (1986) bis zu den aktuellen Alben “They Rise” (2015)” und “Evil Within” (2019), sind sie ihren Wurzeln immer treu geblieben, inspiriert von Bands wie JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT und BLACK SABBATH.

Das aktuelle Album “The Fallen” erschien im Januar 2024 auf ihrem neuen Label Fireflash Records (HOLY MOSES, MEZZROW u.a.). Die Band schlug mit Songs wie “No Mercy”, “Betrayal” und “Soldiers of Steel” einen perfekten Brückenschlag zwischen ihrer eigenen Vergangenheit und der Gegenwart.

RUTLESS gelang ein Album voller Power und Leidenschaft, kombiniert mit dem klassischen 80er Metal-Sound, bereit, ein zukünftiger Klassiker zu werden und ein Muss für jeden, der auf traditionellen Heavy Metal wie METAL CHURCH, HELSTAR, EXCITER, LIEGE LORD und andere steht. Produziert wurde „The Fallen“ von Bart Gabriel (CIRITH UNGOL, RIOT CITY, HEXX u.a.) und abgerundet durch ein plakatives Artwork von Mario Lopez (EVIL INVADERS, CRYSTAL VIPER, TOXIK) und Fotos von Alex Solca (TESTAMENT, DIO, DOKKEN).

Ende 2024 tourten RUTHLESS schließlich als Support ihrer Glaubensbrüder von JAG PANZER durch Europa und festigten ihren Ruf als grandiose Live-Band.

Aktuell befindet sich die Band zusammen mit Produzent Ron Sandoval (KERRY KING u.a.) im Studio und legen dort die letzte Hand an ihrem im Juli 2027 erscheinenden, neuen Album „Curse Of The Beast“ an. „Wir können es kaum erwarten, dass ihr es alle hört. Wir haben ein paar Überraschungen parat, die euch umhauen werden.“, verrät Vokalist Sammy. Im direkten Anschluss wird die Bands Shows in Europa spielen, darunter u.a. das „Headbangers Open Air“.
