Biography

Forged in Sydney, Australia, in 1985, MORTAL SIN are pioneers of Australian Thrash Metal, a band whose ferocious sound and uncompromising attitude helped put Australian Metal on the international map. Emerging during Thrash Metal’s explosive rise, the band carved out a reputation with razor-sharp riffs, relentless aggression and a distinctive identity that would earn them recognition far beyond their home shores. Their landmark debut album, “Mayhemic Destruction” (1987), established MORTAL SIN as one of Australia’s most important Metal exports, attracting international attention and acclaim from the Metal press. The follow-up, “Face Of Despair” (1989), further cemented their standing, arriving in the same year the band supported METALLICA on the Australian leg of the Damaged Justice tour. In 1990, MORTAL SIN took their attack to Europe, touring alongside TESTAMENT and FAITH NO MORE. Over five studio albums, MORTAL SIN have built an enduring place in the story of Australian heavy music.
“Mayhemic Destruction”, “Face Of Despair” and “Psychology Of Death” remain defining records in the band’s catalogue, and their influence continues to reach new generations of Metal fans. In 2026 the band took the stage at respected European festivals including Brutal Assault and Alcatraz, then headed home for the Australian Monsters Of Thrash tour with American Thrash veterans FLOTSAM AND JETSAM.
